Impact investment manager BlueOrchard has launched a Luxembourg version of its InsuResilience Investment fund, the firm has announced.
The fund was launched in the form of a public-private partnership. The strategy has two separately investable sub-funds debt and equity sub-funds.
The manager of the fund is Stefan Hirche. The strategy aims to improve access to climate insurance in developing countries and reduce the vulnerability of low-income households as well as micro, small and medium enterprises to extreme weather events.
The strategy was originally initiated by KfW, the German Development Bank, which also provides first loss protection for private investors.
Commenting on this development Patrick Scheurle, CEO of BlueOrchard, said:
‘Together with our partner, CelsiusPro, we are looking forward to further expanding the outreach of the fund and enhancing the adaptation of the poor and vulnerable to extreme weather risks and natural catastrophes.’
