Credit Suisse has expanded its Swiss equity team with a new portfolio manager hire, the firm has announced.
Christian Sauter most recently worked at Deutsche Asset Management in Zurich, where he ran Swiss equity mandates and funds for 10 years.
The decision to strengthen the team was made based on strong demand for Swiss equity products, especially in the small- and mid-cap space.
Sauter will start his new job on 1 July 2017 and will report to Patrick Carisch.
During his time at Deutsche Asset Management the portfolio manager was responsible for the DWS (CH) Small and Mid-Caps Switzerland Fund.
He started his career as portfolio manager at Credit Suisse and later worked at Märki Baumann Privatbank.
Recently, Credit Suisse has launched the CS (Lux) Swiss Equity Opportunities fund, a new version of the CS (CH) Small Cap Switzerland Equity fund, both of which are run by Citywire AAA-rated Simon Götschmann.
The DWS (CH) Small and Mid-Caps Switzerland fund has returned 53.71% in Swiss franc terms to the end of May 2017 over the past three years. Its technical indicator, Swiss Performance Index Small&Mid Cap, returned 49.51% over the same timeframe.
