Former SYZ AM European equities star and fund selector favourite Eric Bendahan is moving his entire boutique operation to Paris.

The move will see independent asset management firm Eleva Capital formally relocate from London along with the majority of its 15-strong staff over the course of June and July, it is understood.

The AA rated manager formed Eleva Capital in September 2014 after parting company with Syz Asset Management, where he had worked for almost nine years overseeing its flagship European equity funds. Prior to that he had been at AXA IM.

Bendahan was not the first European equity manager to have stepped down form SYZ AM and formed his own investment boutique as Nicolas Walewski, who preceded him on the OYSTER fund left to form Alken Asset Management in 2006.

According to a source familiar with Bendahan's relocation, the decision to move the firm is driven by a willingness to capitalise on better growth potential in the French market over the mid-to-long-term.

Bendahan has seen the boutique grow from one flagship fund, Eleva European Selection, with €25 million assets at launch to two funds with combined assets under management of €2.1 billion.

It is also understood that once the transition is complete, Eleva Capital will look to launch a third Europe-focused equity fund but one dedicated to the eurozone equity market.
