Ex-Carmignac EM duo join Man GLG for new fund

Former Carmignac fund managers Simon Pickard and Edward Cole have joined London-based asset manager Man GLG.

The pair, who left the Paris-based group in February, will be handed a new unconstrained emerging market equity strategy upon joining the firm.

Pickard and Cole had been co-managers on the French group’s Carmignac Pfl Emerging Patrimoine fund alongside Charles Zerah.

Meanwhile, Pickard, who had also served as head of emerging market equities at the firm, had also overseen the Carmignac Emergents fund as sole lead manager.

Man GLG said the pair would be assigned to an as-yet-unlaunched fund, called the Unconstrained Emerging Equity strategy, which is a long-only emerging equity fund.

The two new recruits bring with them 32 years of combined investment experience. This is with Pickard having also previously worked for Jupiter Asset Management and Argos Investments, while Cole previously worked for Ashmore Group and Finisterre Capital.

Commenting on the new recruits, Teun Johnston, co-CEO of Man GLG, said: ‘Launching an Unconstrained Emerging Equity strategy forms a key pillar in the development of Man GLG’s Long Only business.’

‘Simon and Edward are highly experienced investors and will be a great addition to our firm as we expand our investment capability and product offering. We are delighted to welcome Simon and Edward to Man GLG.’
