Pictet chief quantitative strategist Edgar van Tuyll has joined the newly launched Geneva business of Hong Kong-based independent alternative investment group PAG, bringing with him his team of quantitative strategists from Pictet.
Van Tuyll spent more than 20 years at Pictet, having joined the firm in 1995. His last role at the private bank was chief of quant strategy, overseeing a $1 billion portfolio and reporting directly to the CIO.
His team of quantitative strategists from Pictet are now set to join him at PAG, including Dr Wanfeng Yan, Guillaume van Baalen, Dr Mingxi Wang and Eyal Hanouna.
Samuel Amar, the former head of IT at leading biotech firm Esperite, and Lisa Taylor, the deputy head of operations at Lombard Odier, also form part of the team in Geneva.
PAG's new business in Geneva will be applying quantitative techniques to fundamental investments.
Speaking about the new development, Chris Gradel, managing partner and CIO at PAG, said: ‘The application of technology to investing, and the understanding of the impact of quantitative investing on the markets, cannot be ignored.’
The Hong Kong-headquartered group has a total of $19.5 billion in assets under management, with funds across private equity, real estate and absolute return strategies, and has more than 350 staff across nine offices.
