UBS Asset Management has hired Citigroup veteran Suni Harford as head of investments.
In her new capacity, Harford will oversee active equities, systematic and index investing, fixed income, UBS O’Connor (the multi-strategy hedge fund manager), investment solutions, sustainable and impact investing as well as trading.
All in all, she will oversee around $600 billion in assets under management and 500 investment employees, while reporting to Ulrich Koerner, president of UBS AM.
Starting in July 2017, Harford will be based in New York.
She will join UBS AM from Citigroup, which she leaves after 24 years. During her time with the firm she most recently held the role of regional head of markets for North America, a post she has filled for the past nine years.
Harford was also a member of Citi’s Pension Plan Investment Committee and a director of the board of Citibank Canada.
On the new hire, Koerner said: ‘Suni brings strong leadership capabilities combined with a broad knowledge of the investment markets across multiple asset classes and deep understanding of macroeconomics.
‘Over the past two and a half years, we have transformed Investments from a multi-boutique structure into the integrated platform we have today.
‘In her new role as head of investments for asset management, Suni will build on this by executing on our strategy to deliver sustainable performance for our clients.’
