UBS has appointed new head of wealth management Switzerland following the promotion of the encumbent, the firm has announced.
Anton Simonet will start in his new role on 3 April and as a result will join the executive committee for Switzerland as well as the executive committee for wealth management. He will report to Martin Blessing and Jürg Zeltner.
Simonet started working at UBS in 2010 and joined the wealth management arm of the bank as head of Near East, Asia, Israel and Africa. In 2011 he became the head of wealth management in Eastern Switzerland.
Prior to his time with UBS he held roles at Dresdner Bank, including global head of private wealth management.
His predecessor, Christian Wiesendanger, has been promoted to head of wealth management investment platforms and solutions. Until he starts in his new position on 3 April, Jakob Stott will continue his existing duties.
Before assuming his role as head of wealth management Switzerland Wiesendanger introduced the asset management mandate UBS Advice and was responsible for the digitisation of all contract-based solutions.
Simonet's successor for the role of head of wealth management in eastern Switzerland will be announced later.
