Vontobel Asset Management has named Citywire AAA-rated manager Mondher Bettaieb as its new head of corporate bonds, the Swiss group has announced.
Bettaieb joined the Zurich-based group in 2010 and oversees its flagship corporate bond fund, the Vontobel Fund – EUR Corporate Bond Mid Yield.
He had served as a founding member of the company’s corporate bond team and has over 20 years of investment experience.
Prior to joining Vontobel, Bettaieb has served as a credit strategist at AXA Investment Managers in London, while also holding fixed income roles at Swisscanto Asset Management and Winterthur Asset Management.
Commenting on Bettaieb’s new role, Hanoune said: ‘Mondher is an inspiring manager who will play a decisive role in strengthening and further developing our successful product line with assets under management of 2.5 billion Swiss francs (€2.07 billion).’
Vontobel’s fixed income arm currently oversees a total of CHF 10 billion (€8.27 billion) in assets across global and Swiss bonds, corporate bonds and emerging market debt. The department is currently made up of 14 investment professionals.
The Vontobel Fund – EUR Corporate Bond Mid Yield fund returned 30.1% in euro terms over the three years to the end of August 2014. This compares to a rise of 23.98% by its Citywire benchmark, the Markit iBoxx Euro Corporates TR, over the same period.
