Citywire Geneva Alt Ucits 2018: event line-up announced

Citywire's annual half-day event in Geneva will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues on Tuesday 20 February and this year be dedicated to alternative strategies.

While we are just two months into the year, investors have faced sharp equity market falls, a brief Vix index climb and a sudden surge in US treasury yields.

Market commentators have debated whether this is a temporary correction exacerbated by algorithmic trading or if this could be the first crack in a seemingly unstoppable bull market run.

At Citywire Geneva Alternative Ucits 2018, Swiss investors will have the ability to meet alternative specialists to get unique insights into navigating volatility and risk for the months and years ahead.

In workshop sessions, attendees will get under the skin of what these new innovative strategies entail and the following fund managers will be presenting:

    • Aviva Investors: Joubeen Hurren, portfolio manager, AIMS Fixed Income: "Multi-strategy fixed income: delivering the outcomes you need from fixed income"
    • GAM Investments: Ralph Gasser, head of fixed income specialists: "Emerging markets debt - One of the few remaining compelling value opportunities"
    • Lombard Odier Investment Managers: Clément Leturgie & Laurent Joué, portfolio managers, Alternative Risk Premia
    • Syz Asset Management: Bassel Choughari, senior analyst, European equities: “Running against the herd”

The event will also feature a thought-provoking and engaging session from Dr Nisha Long, head of cross-border investment research at Citywire.

This will focus on myth-busting analysis over fund manager experience, while explaining where it matters the most and how much emphasis you should be placing on it.

Attendance is free of charge, but strictly limited to third-party fund selectors. To register your interest in attending this event and to receive full details of the programme, please email Alexandre Cavé on

Registration and breakfast will be available from 08:30 and the first session starts at 09:00 sharp. The conference will close at 12:40 and you are then invited to join us for a buffet lunch.
