Vontobel has appointed Carlos Sousa as a portfolio manager in emerging markets fixed income in Zurich.
He previously worked as an economist at Oxford Economics, where he was responsible for thematic macroeconomic research for emerging and frontier markets. Prior to that, he was a researcher at Brussels-based economic think-tank Bruegel.
The firm also hired three analysts. These include Nuria Jorba Arimany, who joined the company as a research analyst in Zurich. Previously, she worked at UBP, where she was responsible for corporate credit research for emerging markets.
The other two hires, Cosmo Zhang and Pius Yang Xue, are both research analysts based in Hong Kong. Zhang previously worked at Invesco and Fitch Ratings, while Xue was at Dymon Asia, LIM Advisors, Partners Group and Houlihan Lokey.

Vontobel’s fixed income arm has CHF 24bn in assets under management.
